Tsunami Relief Rockathon Successful
By Melyssa Allen
On September 9 and 10, students in Meredith's First-Year Experience classes "rocked"—in rocking chairs—during "Rock for Relief" a 24-hour rock-a-thon to raise money for tsunami relief.
The "Rock for Relief" event raised nearly $6,000 for Meredith's yearlong "A Tide of Hope" plan to support rebuilding projects in areas of Sri Lanka affected by the December 2004 tsunami.
The mission of the First Year Experience program is to offer support services, programs and people who meet the needs of the "whole student," thus addressing the academic, emotional, social, spiritual and physical aspects of our first year student's development.
