History has never been my forte. There have been very few teachers who have made it interesting for me. Traveling through the continent has made many of my old history lessons come to life in my mind. Coming to London I have had the experience to learn a lot from a very interesting and knowledgeable English chap. Though I did not choose to take the Parliament class, even though he believes I should have, I am doing my best to learn as much about this foreign system of government as possible. I jumped at the opportunity to sit in on the House of Lord's and House of Commons with the English chap. I enjoyed sitting next to him because was able explain all that was going on and he smiled at my eager questions. I later learned he actually used to work at Parliament. I learned that unlike American government there are many political parties in Britain.

As I sat in the House of Lords I could hardly believe where I was. I was sitting in the highest Court of Appeal in the United Kingdom! I admired the beautiful throne where the Queen and Prince sit when she comes only once a year. The process of discussing and debating issues was a very complicated one and they did not finish until 10:30 p.m.

I walked out of Parliament that evening smiling, thankful for such a unique experience. Big Ben stood grandly above me telling me it was nearly 11 p.m. What an evening I had had.
