Journals from the United Kingdom

This year, 16 students will be traveling to the United Kingdom with Meredith Abroad. Faculty members Betty Webb, Jeff Martinson and John Rose will be accompanying the group. The group will depart on June 28 and return on August 3.

The program begins in the heart of London, in beautiful Kensington Square. Students will experience a variety of theatre, music, dance, art, museums and historic sites. After four weeks in London, the group will head north to Edinburgh, Scotland, spending nights en route in York and Durham. From Edinburgh, the group will travel to the English Lake District before returning home.

The program provides students with an introduction to the culture of the United Kingdom with a focus on arts and government. Courses include Arts, Artifacts and Culture and British Parliamentary Government. This year, students also have the option of taking a course on Muslims in the U.K.

While they are abroad, Meredith students will be sending frequent reflections in a journal format. These entries will be posted on the website regularly so that the Meredith community can track the travelers' progress. Be sure to check back often to see where they are and what they are doing.
