Yesterday we presented our research experiments and headed out to Selva Verde. I love it here. The lodge is in the middle of the primary forest with built paved pathways for us to enjoy the beautiful animals and flowers as we walk around the lodge. After we settled in we had lunch, which was absolutely delicious! It was definitely one of the best meals we have had since we have been here. Around 1:30 p.m., we went to the Dole banana plantation and Carlos was the name of our tour guide. He was very funny and knew his facts. We got to learn everything from farming the bananas to the packaging process. I found it rather unique that Wal-Mart actually has Dole package the bananas for their stores in different designed sealing bags.
This morning I got up for breakfast at 7:45 a.m. and went the rest of the group at 8:30 to leave for our boat tour. The boat was quite comfortable and very relaxing. We had perfect weather all evening. It was mostly cloudy, but it was warm enough for us to enjoy the tour. On our tour I saw mantled howler monkeys, iguanas, chestnut mandible toucan, anhinga, crocodile, black vultures, and several lovely types of birds. It has been the greatest two days of relaxation that was very much needed. It has really been a wonderful experience being here, but we only have tomorrow left to explore. I really miss home, but I will also miss all the things I have experienced here.
