Meredith College's Technology Services Department provides students, faculty and staff a broad range of services and support for computer, network, printing, or software related issues. Minimum Laptop Specs
Students using personal laptops on the Meredith Campus, IBM compatible or Apple, should adhere to the minimum specifications listed below. These minimums will be required if support is needed for network access or printing issues.

Meredith Provided Services
Meredith College will also provide all students with the following services:


Wireless Access Connection: When connecting to the Meredith Wireless network select the SSID Meredith2009-10. The password is Meredith2009-10.

Campus Printing: Meredith College provides a print and copy solution for students while they are on campus. The goal is to reduce print costs and contribute to the greening of the campus by reducing wasteful printing.

Google Apps: All students are provided with a Google Apps education account.  What are Google Apps? Apps are special education applications that let you develop, share, collaborate and communicate. The basic apps are Gmail, Drive, Sites, Calendar, Groups, Reader and YouTube. For more information, Visit the Goggle Apps page.
 
Gmail, the default program used for Campus Email, is the starting point for the provided Google Apps programs.


Software:  Meredith College will provide access to select software packages (see below). For more detailed information of software provided and used at Meredith College visit Campus Software.
 
Blackboard - Students are issued accounts to Blackboard, a web-based content management system used by faculty, staff, and students to share documents, resources, and online tools. Faculty frequently use it to supplement course materials, such as syllabi, readings, assignments, tests, journals, wikis, blogs, discussion boards, and grade posting . Many student organizations and committees use Blackboard to share materials or communicate easily and securely with one another.
 
WebAdvisor - Students are issued accounts to Webadvisor, a web-based package that provides students, faculty, and staff with access to personal and college related information.
  Atomic Learning - Atomic Learning is a library of "atom-sized bites" movie tutorials that answer "How do I do that?" questions. Meredith College now offers a 24/7 campus-wide subscription for Atomic Learning with access from school and home for faculty, staff, students, parents, and family members. SPSS - Meredith College installs the latest version of SPSS on open and department lab computers. Students who want to purchase SPSS for their personal laptop or computer should visit VaristyBuys (see Discount Software Purchasing below). Select the Standard GradPak 21, either the 6 month or 1 year option (depending on need).
 
SAS/JMP - Meredith College will provide access to the SAS Education Analytic Suite (EAS), JMP, and SAS's e-Learning. For complete account, activiation, and login information visit Campus Software.
 
Virus Protection - Windows Compatible - For students using windows compatible personal laptops, (students still participating in the now discontinued laptop program are not eligible) Meredith College will provide a free copy of G-Data's Internet Security. For instructions on obtaining a license and installation please visit Campus Software.
 
Virus Protection - Mac Compatible - For students using Mac compatible laptops please visit Sophos and download the free Mac Home edition of their Anti-virus software. Be sure to select the correct version that works with the OS that is installed on the Mac.

Meredith Computer Labs
For students without laptops, there is a network of both Common and Department computer labs situated at multiple locations through out the campus.
Computer labs are locked for security and require a CamCard for access. All access issues should be brought to the attention of Meredith Campus Police at (919) 760-8888.

Students who use personal laptops, IBM compatible or Macintosh, on campus will receive help desk support limited to network access and printing issues. Visit the help desk or call (919) 760-2323 for assistance.
The following vendors are located close to the Meredith Campus and can provide hardware and some software support. Please note that Meredith College will not be responsible for any arrangements that are made between students and a computer repair vendor.

Meredith Laptop Program
Students with Meredith owned laptops who still participate in the now discontinued (ended after the Spring 2013 distribution) laptop program will continue to receive support from technology services until the student leaves school or is removed from the laptop program.
