Overview of Program (fall 2012 - spring 2013 semesters)

All new full-time undergraduate students at Meredith College are furnished with a laptop computer that will be have Meredith College owned software installed to aid in the student’s studies while attending school. The computer remains the property of Meredith College. Upon graduation, coupled with a minimum of two full time semesters, and completion of the transfer of ownership requirements, the computer becomes the property of the graduating student, who will assume all support and maintenance responsibilities.

In addition to the Honor Code, Meredith College has laptop and computer policies that govern computer usage. All students must agree to adhere to these policies prior to using the college network. The terms and conditions of the software on the computer also binds the students.

Students who withdraw from Meredith College or become part-time students by enrolling in fewer than 12 semester hours (seniors with two full time semesters are exempt from the part-time restriction), must return the computer. Failure to return the laptop will result in a Buy-Out charge being applied to the student’s account equal to the purchase price Meredith College paid for the laptop and any software charges that would be applicable.

Students with Meredith laptops that are granted a Leave of Absense are subject to the Technology related Leave of Absence Policy.

The student will be required to sign a Student Program Agreement prior to receiving their laptops. If the student has not yet reached the age of 18 at the time of laptop distribution, a parent or guardian must co-sign the SPA. Student Program Agreements will be available in the resident halls on move-in day or you can download the SPA and have your parent/guardian sign it. You will need to bring the signed copy of the SPA with you on distribution day.
