Dr. Diana G. Oblinger, as Vice President for EDUCAUSE,
is responsible for the association’s teaching and learning
activities to promote the intelligent use of information technology
in the learning environment. Membership in the organization comprises
nearly 2,000 colleges, universities and education organizations,
including 200 corporations.
Previously, Dr. Oblinger has been the Vice President for Information
Resources and the Chief Information Officer for the University
of North Carolina system, responsible for strategic planning
and policy development for information technology. On the faculty
at the University of Missouri-Columbia and at Michigan State
University, she served as an academic dean and was recognized
for her work in student recruitment, retention, faculty development
and student computing. At Microsoft she served as the Executive
Director of Higher Education, and at IBM, she was Director
of the Institute for Academic Technology. She is co-author
of What Business Wants from Higher Education and has co-edited
six books including The Learning Revolution, and Educating
the Net Generation.
She serves on the National Science Foundation’s Directorate
of Education and Human Resources, the NSF Advisory Committee
on Cyberinfrastructure, and the editorial board of Open Learning.
She chairs the National Visiting Committee for the National
Science Digital Library project for National Science Foundation.
