Lindsey Jones"When I came to Meredith, I originally planned to be a teacher. Through my classes in Arabic and Middle East politics, I found other things that interested me. After I studied abroad in New Zealand, I realized other countries don't see the world in the same way as Americans do.

I participated in the Model United Nations team during my sophomore year. My Model UN experience was crucial in my decision to study international issues…it really was a simulation of international conferences. These experiences led me to major in international studies. In a way, I feel like I'm still teaching. I'm challenging the stereotypes of the Middle East – it is just a different type of education."

At Meredith: Bachelor of Arts in international studies. Earned Master of Arts in Arab Studies at Georgetown University.

Experience: Jones spent the summer of 2005 working as an intern at the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan.

Post-Graduate Plans:  Working in Palestinian refugee camps."I want to do fieldwork in Palestinian refugee camps, focusing on grassroots development among Palestinian Christian communities, women, and youth, while helping to bridge the disconnect between American Christians and Middle Eastern Christians."
