Cynthia McDaniel - 23 + Student
> back to 23+ Information
Being a non-traditional student is important to me because I am fulfilling one of life’s goals. I am working on my degree that I started twenty years ago; but as many women, I quit to focus on having a family. When I decided to return to college, I considered NC State and NC Central University; but it was what appeared before when I walked into Johnson Hall in large, bold writing “STUDY TO SHOW THYSELF APPROVED”. Wasn’t that what I wanted to accomplish? At that very moment, I knew that Meredith was the college for me. I wanted to be an example for other women that were contemplating whether or not they should go back to school and to say it is never too late to make a change in life by obtaining a bachelor’s degree. I enjoy the classroom setting because the opportunity to experience the campus life by walking on the grounds, attending classes, making friends, and getting to know my professors. I would have missed this opportunity if I had chosen to enroll in an on-line program. Also, the flexibility of the classes allows me to balance my classwork, full-time job, and three children. My experience of being a Meredith non-traditional student has been one of the most remarkable milestones of my life yet!
