MeredithREADS Online Registration: Students | Faculty and Staff | Alumnae

Founded in 2000, MeredithREADS is a literacy partnership between Meredith, Motheread, and Wake County Public Schools System.

Volunteers complete a 2-4 hour Motheread training session and work on-site at the schools for 1-2 hours each week per semester. MeredithREADS participants work on-site at one of several local public schools. Volunteers and their reading pals come to campus each spring to enjoy the annual Celebrate Reading Festival.

Transportation & Scheduling

Transportation is not provided, but carpooling with other Meredith community members is an option. MeredithREADS participants must have a two-hour block of time available between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., weekdays.

Celebrate Reading Festival

The Celebrate Reading Festival, which will take place on April 30, 2008, is the culminating event of the year. Students come to campus for a day of fun with their reading partners. The festival includes face-painting, storytelling, and a pizza lunch, and all of the children leave with a book of their choice at the end of the day.
