Saturday August 20, 2011 -- SPLASH will have two different service opportunities this year!!

Splash is a fun-filled day of service experiences. There will be two service opportunities (one with Stop Hunger Now and one with Marbles Kids Museum). Spend the day with us getting to know other students and serving your local community. See below for more details.

Stop Hunger Now (9 a.m. - 12 p.m.) - You Tube Video - THIS SHIFT IS NOW FULL

As we have done for the past three years, we will join students from NC State to pack meals to be distributed to hungry people around the world through the hunger relief organization, Stop Hunger Now! We will take 45 people to NCSU to package meals. (transportation will be provided)

$10 Feeds 40 People!

To package one million meals $250,000 needs to be raised (one million meals costing twenty five cents each). Additional help is needed by all of the participants in order to reach our goal. We are respectfully requesting that each volunteer raise $10 donation.  Payments will be due by the packaging date. FYI: A volunteer packages approximately 288 meals (.25 each) during a shift (cost for packaged food by 1 person is $72)

Marbles Kids Museum (8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. AND 12:30 p.m. -  5 p.m.)  - Details about the Event

We will be staffing various stations at their Kickoff to Kindergarten. This is a community event that celebrates and eases the transition to kindergarten for children and families.  Through play-based activities, children and families become familiar with the routines, materials, language,  and expectations of kindergarten.  Community partners provide families with information and resources and answer questions. (transportation will be provided)
