MeredithREADS is a partnership with Motheread, Inc. through which volunteers go to elementary schools to work on literacy skills one-on-one with local children. All volunteers are trained and use the Motheread curriculum. The time commitment is approximately one hour a week for two semesters. Upcoming trainings will be held in September.
SPLASH! into Meredith
Splash is a one-time service experience that will give you the opportunity to meet new students, have fun, and make a difference in the world. On Saturday August 21, 2010 we will have two service opportunities to participate in and a fun-filled afternoon of activities in the courtyard including a picnic lunch. Service project will include packaging meals with NC State for Stop Hunger Now and helping the Food Bank of Eastern and Central NC with work in their warehouse.
The Office of Student Leadership and Service now provides funding for service projects. Students, faculty/staff, classes, or student organizations are eligible to submit an application for up to $100 in funding for a service project.
Service Break Trips
Do something different during you break. To prepare Meredith students for their roles as global citizens, the Office of Student Leadership and Service coordinates intensive service opportunities, both domestic and abroad. We are always looking for student participants, student leaders and faculty/staff chaperones. Past trips have included Turtle Island Preserve, Mississippi, and Belize. Contact us if you are interested in helping coordinate or participating in a service break trip.
