PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO PARKING ALLOWED ON FRIDAY, NOV. 4th ON EITHER SIDE OF MAIN CAMPUS DRIVE FROM THE TRAFFIC CIRCLE TO JOHNSON HALL.
Cornhuskin’ Parade
The Cornhuskin’ Parade will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Main Campus Drive. Please be aware of the following guidelines for transportation and parking on campus:
-
At 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 the Main Campus Drive will be closed at Hillsborough Street to incoming and outgoing traffic. It will remain closed until after the Cornhuskin’ Parade participants have safely cleared the parade route. Entrance and exit to/from the Meredith Campus will be through the Faircloth gate only.
-
The Chapel Parking Lot will be closed at 3 p.m. until after the parade. If faculty, staff or others park in the Chapel Lot on Friday, and need to leave early, these drivers will need to exit the lot BEFORE 3 p.m. Drivers may remain parked in the lot until after the parade, if they choose to do so.
Cornhuskin’ Competition
The Cornhuskin’ competition will begin at 6 p.m. in McIver Amphitheater. Please be aware of the following guidelines for Cornhuskin’ spectators:
Wristband Distribution
-
In order to ensure that there is enough seating room in the amphitheater for all students, a college-issued wristband will be required for alumnae, family, and general public to enter the McIver Amphitheater gates. Wristbands will be distributed in the Jones Auditorium lobby beginning at 2 p.m. on the day of the event and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Each guest must be present in order to receive a wristband. Once the wristbands have been distributed, guests will be asked to view the event from an alternate location (see below). Wristbands are not necessary for the alternate viewing areas.
Reserved Guest Seating
-
“Big Sis” Class of 2010 - Members of the Class of 2010 should enter the amphitheater through the reserved seating gate located on the North side of the amphitheater (Jones Auditorium side). Class members then will be directed to a reserved seating area designated for the class. Class of 2010 members must present an ID in order for gate attendants to confirm class affiliation.
-
Faculty and Staff - Meredith faculty and staff must RSVP via email for a limited number of reserved seats in the amphitheater. RSVP and subsequent event entry instructions will be sent via email to all faculty and staff in the week prior to Cornhuskin’.
Amphitheater Entry/Seating
-
Campus Police will allow guests with wristbands through the amphitheater gates in small groups beginning at 5 p.m. and will escort these guests to the designated public seating areas. They will pause entry through the gates at 6 p.m. in order to allow for class processionals, then will allow any remaining guests with wristbands in as space permits after processionals are complete and before other events begin.
-
No individual will be permitted to remain sitting or standing in the aisles or walkways of the amphitheater – blocking of aisles is a fire code violation and a safety concern.
-
For the sake of maximizing seating space, the following items are not permitted within the amphitheater gates: chairs with legs, coolers or large bags.
-
Blankets, seat cushions (with or without a back) and stadium seats (without legs) are permitted.
Alternative Viewing Areas
-
There likely will not be a seat for every guest within the amphitheater seating area. Seating options outside of the McIver Amphitheater will be available in the following locations:
-
Guests are welcome to sit (in chairs, on blankets, etc.) on the hills on either side of the amphitheater and outside of the gated area – this space is first-come/first-served. These spaces offer views of the amphitheater stage and are good options for seating outside of the crowded amphitheater.
-
Climate-controlled seating and a live video feed of the Cornhuskin' performances will be available in Jones Auditorium. Seating in the auditorium begins at 5 p.m.
