Services for Faculty & Staff
Often faculty and staff are the first people that students go to when they are distressed. If you are wondering how to help someone who has come to you for advice, or you would like support regarding a student's situation, you are welcome to call the Counseling Center staff to discuss the situation. We can also provide guidance about referring the student for an appointment.
Our staff and intern(s) frequently go to classrooms, residence halls, or other settings to present on mental health topics (e.g. stress management, diversity, body image, alcohol and drug abuse prevention). If you would like us to come to your classroom, office, department or other setting, please contact us.
Our counseling services are specifically for students, however we can we can help faculty and staff find appropriate services in the community. Please click here for information about referrals.
Occasionally the Counseling Center will partner with other groups on campus to produce a program on mental or emotional health. For example,in the spring semester of 2003, we worked with the Art Gallery Outreach Program of the Art Department specifically to co-sponsor a workshop, “The Arts as Healing Tools,” in conjunction with the multimedia exhibit on eating disorders by Auburn College artist, Debora Miles. In fall 2002, we worked with the Freshman Class Discovery Program to sponsor nutritionist Ellen Morrison.
On February 24, 2004, the Counseling Center worked collaboratively with students, graduate interns, and a community nonprofit organization called C.R.E.A.T.E. (Creative Resources, Education, and Art To Empower) to sponsor a program on healthy body image.
Please let us know if you have more ideas for collaboration!
