This session serves as an orientation session to early advising events for the day.
12-1:30 p.m.
Lunch & Student Services Fair
1:30-2:15 p.m.
Academic Fair
1:15-4 p.m. English and/or Foreign Language Assessment Tests
All first-year students will take an English Assessment. Those students with 3 or more years of a foreign language in high school (French, German, Latin or Spanish only) will take a foreign language placement test. Because our general education curriculum requires competency in a foreign language, it will be to your benefit to continue in the language you studied in high school and this assessment will allow us to determine your level of ability, even if you plan to begin with another language at Meredith.
3:30-5:30 p.m. Meetings with Faculty Advisor
This is the time you and your advisor will discuss the course preferences you indicated on your workbook form. Participants in the April 12th Advising and Registration event will participate in a pilot program, and will register for classes online several weeks following the event. We appreciate your participation and feedback about this new and exciting program!
When you are in meetings or involved in activities on campus, your parents may choose to participate in a number of programs scheduled just for them. Additionally, our Office of Financial Assistance will be open for individual meetings with families throughout the day.* Because the day is long and full of activities, those coming to Meredith from a distance may wish to stay in a local hotel. Information on Raleigh accommodations may be found at triangle.citysearch.com.

Once your daughter has completed and returned the forms indicating that she will be attending an Advising and Registration event, she will receive a confirmation letter in the mail. This letter will include an outline of the day's schedule, a campus map, and a list of things to prepare for and bring with her to Advising and Registration.
For more information, please contact our office. We look forward to seeing you on campus soon!
What if I am unable to attend an Advising and Registration event?
We strongly encourage all incoming freshmen to plan to attend one of the Advising and Registration events. We understand, however, that some students will not be able to attend due to other commitments. Even if you cannot attend one of the events, you should remember to do the following:
- Read the Advising and Registration Workbook that you were sent after you paid your enrollment deposit.
- Complete the Advising and Registration Form and Course Schedule Worksheet (from the workbook) and return them to the Office of Admissions as soon as possible. This information will be used to develop a schedule for you.
Students who do not attend an Advising and Registration event will receive a schedule in the mail several weeks after the last Advising and Registration event.
Meredith College faculty and staff will use the information you provide on your forms to develop a schedule based on your interests and needs. There will be opportunity during Freshman Orientation in August to make any necessary changes to the schedule you receive during the summer.
Please contact the Office of Academic Advising if you have any questions about completing the forms for Advising and Registration events. Contact the Admissions Office to register for an event.
