Spring 2017 New Student Orientation

As you know, we experienced some winter weather over the weekend. We value your safety and as such have decided to postpone the start of New Student Orientation until Tuesday, January 10th. Campus will be closed on Monday. Check-in will now take place at noon in Harris 214. At that time, we will enjoy a pizza lunch, with staff and student leaders, and review important information to get you started this semester. I know many of you may have questions about your schedule or other campus errands – we will make sure you have time to conduct any business on campus that you may need.

We will review the rest of the adjusted schedule at that time but highlights will include the Honor Code Ceremony, academic advising, sessions related to academic research and technology services, and time to complete campus errands.

If you are moving into the residence halls you may get your key starting at 9:00 a.m. in the Vann Residence Hall in Room 129. Please contact the Resident Director on Duty number if you have difficulties accessing the building (919.612.6350). If you do not already have a CamCard plan to visit the Campus Police office Tuesday morning to receive one.

Academic Advising

If you have not yet registered for classes we will make sure that is a priority for your agenda and help you make adjustments to your schedule accordingly. Academic Advising staff will be available to assist you during Orientation on Tuesday as well as in the Registrar’s office on Wednesday as needed.

Campus Errands

If you still need to get a CamCard, visit with Financial Aid, the Accounting Office, or conduct any other campus business there will be time to do so during the afternoon.

Thank you for your patience with these adjustments and please take caution when traveling to campus on Tuesday.
