Services for Commuters
As a commuter, you may work, have a family or possibly travel a long way from home to attend Meredith. Regardless of your reason for commuting, we want you to think of Meredith as being more a community of learners and educators providing support and encouragement to one another.
Commuter Meal Plan:
Commuter meal plans are available through Campus Dining Services. The benefits of a meal plan are:
- All-you-care-to-eat meals
- No need to carry cash
- Variety of food choices
- Save over $60 in comparison to individual meals

Commuter Assistants:
Upper-class students are chosen to be commuter assistants to welcome new commuters and to assist with their adjustment to campus life. They serve in a comparable role to the resident assistant, answering questions, leading new commuter gatherings, serving as a peer counselor and organizing freshmen commuter orientation.
Commuter Mail pockets:
In an effort to ensure that commuters receive campus information, commuter mail pockets are available for your convenience. The mail pocket filing cabinets are located on the first floor of Cate Center in the mail area.
Commuter Lockers:
Lockers are available for commuter students to store personal items. The lockers may be used free of charge. Commuters must register to obtain a locker with the Office of Commuter Life and Diversity Programs.
Commuter Refrigerator:
Need a place to store your beverages and meals? We have it! A refrigerator has been provided beside the commuter lockers for your convenience.
Commuter Workstation:
School supplies such as tape, pencils, pens, glue and a variety of other supplies are available to commuter students at no cost.
Commuter Connection:
A Blackboard "course" designed to keep commuters informed of campus events and other related information. Student must enroll in this course to access the information.

Programs for Commuters
Good Morning Commuters:
This program features complimentary juice and pastries on the first Monday of each month on 2nd Cate. It provides commuters with information and an opportunity to share concerns and issues related to life a commuter. GMC is held from 10a.m. to 11a.m.
Commuter Appreciation Events:
In an effort to celebrate and honor our commuter students, two major campus wide events are offered: Commuter Appreciation Day in November and Commuter Appreciation Week in March.
Freshman Commuter Orientation:
The Freshman Commuter Orientation is an overnight experience to assist in making a smooth and pleasant transition to the college environment. Students will have the opportunity to meet other new students and participate in an evening of scavenger hunts and trivia games to learn about campus resources.
New Commuter Gatherings:
New Commuter Gatherings are offered once a month to introduce new commuting freshmen to the Office of Commuter Life and Diversity Programs and to Meredith College.
Association of Meredith Commuters:
As a commuter, you are automatically a member of this organization! AMC is an active campus organization whose primary mission is to keep commuter students informed and to encourage involvement in campus events and activities. At biweekly meetings, students discuss policies, concerns and requests related to commuter life, enjoy a variety of programs and guest speakers, and receive up to date campus information. AMC meets every other Monday at 10 a.m. in Kresge Auditorium and 2nd Cate Lounge. For more information contact amc@meredith.edu.
