CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH, APRIL 2006


Child Abuse Prevention Month takes place in April.  Nationally, about 47 out of every 1000 children are victims (preventchildabusenc.org).  Locally in North Carolina, over 26,000 were abused and neglected in 2004-2005 (preventchildabusenc.org).  Abused children are at a higher risk for substance abuse, crime, teen pregnancy and dropping out of school (preventchildabusenc.org).

IDEAS & VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Help the Social Work Club bring awareness to this ongoing problem.  We are currently seeking ideas for events and volunteers to make it happen.
