The Sociology/Criminology Club

The Sociology/Criminology club works on various issues related to Sociology, Criminology and Social Justice Issues. In the Fall, the club sponsors CSI week which is a week with multiple speakers in all sorts of classes that relate to the Criminology major. In the pictures above the Raleigh PD mounted and Canine unit came to campus in Fall 2010 and (right) in Fall 2009, Beth Whitney, a CCBI (City County Bureau of Identification) Forensic Computer Expert speaks to a student. Examples of the schedule of speakers during previous CSI weeks are available from 2009 and 2010.
The club also hosts Sociology week in the Spring with various speakers related to the field of Sociology. The club is involved in projects like Books for Barwell (school books for students at an elementary school with a very poor population) and Diva Dash (with Interact) to increase awareness of sexual assualt during Sexual Assault Awareness week.
This club is open to all majors, minors or any other student interested in these topics. The club meets every 3rd Friday at 10:00 am beginning September 2, 2011.
