Students present at the Southern Sociological Society Meeting in Jacksonville, FL 
Hilary Towle and Rebecca Overby presented on their Public Sociology research at the annual Southern Sociological Society meeting in Jacksonville, Florida in April 2011. Dr. Hess attended and presented on her own research as well. Here are (from left) Dr. Hess, Hilary Towle and Rachel Overby on a water taxi in Jacksonville.
In April 2012 The Southern Sociology Society Meeting will be held in New Orleans, LA. Interested students who would like to attend should contact Dr. Brown or Dr. Hess. Senior students will be encouraged to present on their research for the SOC 496 course but all students may attend. Some financial assistance from the college may be available. \
Inductions for Alpha Kappa Delta, The International Honor Society for Sociology
Spring 2011 inductions were held at NCSU and four Meredith Students were inducted. They are:

The event was held at NCSU in the Sociology department center. Meredith College and NCSU hold this induction together to honor new inductees and for students and their families to hear a speaker who is a sociologist discuss some of his or her current research.
