Meredith Students Organize Campaign to Aid Hurricane Victims
On Monday, September 26 Meredith's Service Council and Student Government Association (SGA) will kick-off a new campus wide Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort.
Meredith community members will be asked to partake in a sacrificial giving campaign, the concept of which is that community members willingly sacrifice something in order to support the victims of the Gulf Coast Region. Sacrificial giving means giving up something that one would ordinarily enjoy and donating that money to a charity of his/her choice.
Examples of sacrificial giving might include: Friday night trip to the movies ($7) or giving up a week's worth of morning coffees ($10) etc.
Giving cards will be distributed on September 26 at the Student Body Meeting (10-11a.m. and 7-8 p.m. in Jones Chapel) and on the 1st floor of the Cate Center. Members of SGA and Service Council will also distribute giving cards.
Donations may be in the form of checks or cash and can be placed in the envelopes attached to the giving cards and deposited in the drop-off boxes in the Cate Center, Belk Dining Hall, Johnson Hall and other places around campus.
