Meredith College offers a major in Religion, minors in Religion and Philosophy and supports the interdisciplinary minor in Ethics and the Public Interest.

As a part of the liberal arts curriculum, the study of religion and philosophy prepares students to live in our ever-expanding world where multiple religious, philosophical and ethical perspectives inform the different ways in which people inhabit, experience and ultimately shape the world we all share.

Our faculty specialize in a wide range of fields in both Eastern and Western religious traditions. Religion and Philosophy courses will provide you with an informed look at the world, its rich and varied religious traditions, ethical perspectives and cultural perspectives, from sacred texts to popular culture.

The department regularly hosts lectures and panel discussions on topics relating to religion and philosophy. Visit the News & Events page for recent examples.
