Graduation Procedures

May graduates should expect to receive a graduation audit from the Office of the Registrar the summer before their senior year.  An appointment is not required to receive a graduation audit, but may be requested if there are any questions.  The purpose of the graduation audits is to provide both the student and the advisor information on your progress toward degree requirements.  If you have questions about an audit you received or have not received your audit by August 20th, please e-mail registrar@meredith.edu.

Your graduation audit will provide the following information:

When you receive your graduation audit, review it carefully.  Your advisor also receives a copy of this document and can answer questions about your major requirements.  You may also contact the Office of the Registrar to ask questions or make corrections.  Please remember if a course substitution has been made, we must have a signed memo from the appropriate department head.  If the substitution is for your major, please have the department head of your major sign/e-mail the documentation.  If the substitution is for General Education, please have Dr. Paul Winterhoff send the documentation.  Answers to many questions about General Education can be found on the General Education website.

Your graduation status will be reviewed during your last semester.  You will be notified if we find any problems.  Please remember that students entering fall 2003 or later must complete cultural events and computer competency.  These are graduation requirements and should be completed no later than mid-term of your last semester.

Information on your minor is not part of the graduation audit.  The Office of the Registrar will contact you if there is a problem with your minor requirements.  Questions about your minor should be directed to registrar@meredith.edu.

All seniors must fill out an Application for Diploma.  Students graduating in December should submit their form by September 1st.  Those planning to graduate in May or August should submit forms no later than January 31st.  Your student account will be charged the $75 graduation/lifetime transcript fee in the middle of the semester in which you graduate.

The Office of Academic Affairs will contact graduating seniors a few months before graduation with detailed information on commencement.  Ms. Anne Pickard can answer questions about the graduation ceremony.

Also, please be aware that accounts must be paid in full, by noon, the Friday before gradution.  This May 2008, that date is May 9th.
