APS Psychology Jeopardy

Last year, 2009, marked the 12th anniversary of the Conference's popular tradition of having a Psychology Jeopardy competition to close out the day on Saturday. Dr. Jim Kalat of North Carolina State University once again created the questions and hosted the event. Three colleges competed in a game modeled after the television show, except that all questions pertained to various aspects of psychology. The winning team received a trophy to take home to its school, as well as having its school's name engraved on a trophy held at Meredith College, which identifies the winners from every year. The winning team members also won prizes donated by the Association for Psychological Science. Prizes were also given to the other competitors and have included items such as books related to the discipline and/or and gift certificates to restaurants. Barton College won the competition for three consecutive years (2005, 2006, 2007) until Campell University took the trophy in 2008.  Old Dominion University won in 2009.  Who will win this year?

Students interested in competing in the Jeopardy competition should have a psychology faculty member from their department contact CPC Faculty Co-Chair, Dr. Gwynn Morris. The three competing teams consist of two students from each school. Students who compete in Jeopardy are not required to be presenting at the conference themselves but someone from the students' school must be presenting at the conference.
