Meredith's leadership and undergraduate research programs are just two examples of the many opportunities that our students have to shape campus life - and the world beyond.

You'll also get a glimpse of our lively campus environment, which reflects our belief that the best college is also a good community. For example, Meredith's ongoing "Tide of Hope" fundraising efforts have raised more than $100,000 for tsunami victims in Sri Lanka; Meredith students also participated in several service trips to the Gulf Coast region after Hurricane Katrina. Meredith has hosted the Komen NC Triangle Race for the Cure for 11 years, the most recent with a record breaking 22,000 participants.

As you browse the web site, you'll see evidence of our commitment to active citizenship in the global community through our theme for this academic year. The 2007-08 academic year will focus on "Ethical Leadership," a theme that will be incorporated into campus lectures, service learning opportunities, and other academic efforts such as our summer reading program. Through a series of speakers and events related to the theme, the Meredith community will explore some of the core ethical questions that individuals and organizations face in today's increasingly global society .

You'll also find evidence of our long-term commitment to enhancing the overall Meredith experience through Vision 2010, a new strategic plan that outlines a bold vision for the future, and the recently completed Campaign for Meredith, the largest fundraising campaign in the College's history. Through these two historic efforts, we are carving the pathways that will take Meredith--and our graduates--to new levels of excellence.
