Each year, Meredith welcomes prominent leaders to campus to deliver public lectures, interact with students, and provide educational enrichment. In 2009, Nobel Peace Prize recipient Wangari Maathai delivered the Lillian Parker Wallace Lecture, and Meredith also welcomed the Kenyan ambassador to campus. The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Presidential Lecture Series featured Animal Planet’s Jeff Corwin, "Oceanaut" Celine Cousteau and PostSecret founder Frank Warren. The May 2009 commencement address was delivered by N.C. Supreme Court Chief Justice Sarah Parker, who attended Meredith College from 1960-62.
