The Second Annual Meredith Fund Family Festival and Welcome Back Picnic was held on Friday, August 26.
Despite the rain showers in late afternoon, the event and the fun of being together shined throughout the evening. Relocated to Belk West, the festival and picnic became an indoor celebration with more than 200 Meredith faculty, staff, students, parents, alumnae, trustees and family members. Complete with face painting and a special mascot appearance from Mr. and Mrs. Wuf of NC State, the event was a way for the Meredith community to help kick off the new academic year.
The festival was also an opportunity to celebrate the success of the Be One in a Million campaign, which continues this year. Gifts from Meredith faculty and staff helped us raise $1 million in annual giving last year.
We appreciate the comments from our guests:
“Thank you to IA and the President’s Office for including the faculty and staff in this event to help build community as we start the school year!” - Mandy Boyers, Office of Human Resources
“My husband, daughter and I really enjoyed spending time with other faculty and staff members and their children at the event.” - Erin Lindquist, Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences
“I love the new tradition of the festival and picnic. And, I loved getting an opportunity to bring my daughter to campus in hopes that one day she becomes a third generation Meredith grad!” - Laura McNeill Cox, ’05, chair, Meredith College Alumnae Association’s Young Alumnae Board
We look forward to celebrating with everyone again next year—and having blue skies! Thank you to everyone who attended.
