How can students be engaged and successful in college? Take advantage of programs and resources that are offered! Academic & Career Planning is available to discuss academic progress and majors, study skills, jobs on campus and off, internships and full time jobs. Advisors and counselors are available for individual appointments but events are also arranged. The ACP website has a full list but here are a few that you may want to share with your student.
Academic Study Skills Workshops – focus on studying for foreign language, science, math, writing. These are led by faculty members in the discipline. They will be arranged during September and offered during October and November.
Resume Clinics – held every Monday from 10:00 a.m.-noon. Counselors are available to review resumes and offer suggestions for improvement
Career Fairs – Engineering Career Fair on October 4-5; Law School Forum on November 1 – Meredith students attend these events at NC State University
Social Media – encourage your student to “like” us on our Facebook site and connect with us through LinkedIn. Learn more from our Blog. The social media was created by a senior, Jennifer Prince.

Graduate School Series – GRE Study Sessions led by Meredith Faculty during September; sessions on financing grad school, writing personal statements and taking entrance exams are being held in September. Students should check out the timeline for applying to graduate school.
Networking Event – designed to connect students with professionals in the community; focus is on learning what one can do with different majors and make connection with employers for internships and jobs. Great success and connections were made.
