Welcome Class of 2014!
Office of Admissions

Meredith welcomed the largest class in the College’s history in late August! Over 475 students from 19 states and 11 countries make up the Class of 2013, as well as two Alumnae Legacy Scholars. This exceptional group of students is well into their first semester at MC, and the Office of Admissions has already begun recruiting the Class of 2014.

Our staff travels heavily in the fall visiting high schools for college fairs, college nights and private visits during the school day. The team spreads Meredith’s message in familiar areas, such as the Triangle, Western North Carolina and Virginia. However, we continue to explore territories that aren’t quite as familiar, as part of our commitment to expanding geographic diversity. Some of the areas we’ll be visiting this fall are Connecticut, Missouri and Pennsylvania. In addition, we’ll be participating in College Week Live, an online college fair that spans several days in November. This is our second time participating, and it has proven to be an excellent opportunity to make personal connections with students from around the world who may not be able to visit campus.

This is also the inaugural year of the Meredith Hues Program, an initiative developed to further increase our multicultural student population on campus. Hues members are comprised of high achieving freshmen from diverse ethnic backgrounds. They frequently travel with admissions counselors to college fairs and high schools in the local area, and represent the College at our Visitation Days on campus. During the spring semester, each member will ‘adopt’ an incoming freshman and serve as a mentor for her as she navigates the college selection process. Their presence strengthens the relationships we are building with prospective students.

Fall is the time of year when many students are visiting college campuses. Please encourage high school seniors you may know to attend our next Senior Visitation Day on Friday, October 30. Students and their families will be able to visit classes, learn more about financial assistance and scholarship opportunities, hear from current students and go on a campus tour. Furthermore, we offer information sessions and campus tours during the weekdays at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., and on select Saturdays at 10 a.m. To register, please visit www.meredith.edu/admissions/visit-campus.htm or call 1-800-MEREDITH. We invite you to join the student!

Finally, if you know a young woman who would be a good fit for Meredith, please take advantage of our Friends of Meredith College Application Fee Voucher. This voucher will waive a student’s $40 application fee. Our recommended deadline for Early Decision is October 30 or February 15 for Regular Decision. For those students interested in the Honors Program or merit and talent scholarships, applications for admission and the scholarship/program should be received by January 15
