Welcome to the Meredith College academic enrollment process! The information below is for students enrolling in August, 2014. Please follow closely these outlined steps so that we can obtain the necessary information from you in order to help you enroll in courses at Meredith.
Complete the Advising & Registration Form as soon as possible. The deadline for this form is May 15th.
Beginning on April 21st, all deposited students will receive a letter with login information for your Meredith email address and for Blackboard.* Once you log into Blackboard, you will see that you have access to the English, Spanish, and French placement exams. If you took more than one year of Spanish or French in high school, you will test in that language.** Even if you intend to study a different language at Meredith, you will still be required to test! This benefits you, as the placement test will allow you to have options regarding how to fulfill your foreign language requirement. If you took a language other than Spanish or French, you will not test. All students will take the online English assessment.***
You will have from Monday, April 21st at 8:00 AM until the Wednesday (at midnight) before your scheduled Enroll@MC event to complete these assessments. Your exams must be submitted before coming to Enroll@MC so that they may be assessed and so that you can receive a complete schedule. If you anticipate having technological problems or questions, please take the assessment(s) during regular business hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) Monday - Friday. You may reach our Technology Services Help Desk by calling (919) 760-2323. Please note that questions about the content of the exam will not be answered.
*If you deposit after April 21st, you will receive the letter within a few days of the receipt of your deposit.
**Students that have already received college credit for any level of Spanish (SPA-101, SPA-102, SPA-205) or French (FRE-101, FRE-102, FRE-205) will not need to test. You will register for the next course in the sequence.
***Students that have already received college credit for ENG-111, Principles of Writing, will not need to test. You will register for ENG-200, Critical Reading and Writing.
In order to be prepared for creating your first schedule at Enroll@MC, we ask that you take some time to familiarize yourself with our general education requirements as well as the list of courses that first-year students interested in particular majors may want to consider. Using this information, begin thinking about how you would like to build your first Meredith schedule.
A typical schedule may look something like one of these examples:
Total: 15 credits
Total: 15 or 16 credits
Shortly after receiving your Advising & Registration form submission, an admissions counselor will confirm which event you’ve been selected to attend. You will also receive more information about the schedule of the day and programming for parents as your assigned date gets closer. Attendance is required of all new students.* We can’t wait to see you on May 31st, June 21st, or July 12th!
*For those students who cannot attend due to extreme circumstances (i.e. – travelling from another country), we will contact you in mid-July concerning your schedule.
