Welcome to the Meredith College academic enrollment process! The information below is currently for students enrolling in January, 2014. Please follow closely these outlined steps so that we can obtain the necessary information from you in order to help you enroll in courses at Meredith.
Read the Advising & Registration Workbook so that you may familiarize yourself with our general education requirements, courses within your potential major(s), how to build a course schedule, frequently asked questions, and contact information for important offices at Meredith.
Complete the Advising and Registration form by no later than Thursday, December 5th at midnight.
You will be receiving an email (sent to your new Meredith email address) on or around December 6 with login information for Blackboard. This will allow you to log in to Blackboard and take your English and/or foreign language placement exam(s). If you took more than one year of Spanish or French in high school, you will test in the appropriate language*. If you took a language other than Spanish or French, you will not test. All students will take an English placement exam.**
You will have from Monday, December 9 at 8:00 AM until Sunday, December 15th at midnight to start and finish these assessments. If you anticipate having technological problems or questions, please take the assessment(s) during regular business hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) Monday - Friday. You may reach our Technology Services Help Desk by calling (919) 760-2323. Please note that questions about the content of the exam will not be answered.
*Students that have already received college credit for any level of Spanish (SPA-101, SPA 102, SPA 205) or French (FRE-101, FRE-102, FRE-205) will not need to test. You will register for the next course in the sequence.
**Students that have already received college credit for ENG-111, Principles of Writing, will not need to test. You will register for ENG-200, Critical Reading and Writing.
Be ready for a phone call from an academic adviser in Academic & Career Planning sometime during the week of December 16-20. He or she will use both your Advising and Registration form submission and your online placement test results to help you create your first Meredith schedule. Once created, you will have the opportunity to make changes (if needed) at Orientation with your faculty and student advisers. Orientation will start on Friday, January 3.
