Early Warning System
The Early Warning system is a partnership between faculty and Academic & Career Planning (ACP) designed to assist students exhibiting at-risk behavior. The Early Warning System intends to intervene before students drop to levels that necessitate academic probation and threaten suspension from the college. Signs that a student may need an Early Warning referral are low scores, excessive absences from class, missing homework assignments, and observed changes in demeanor or behavior.
If you see signs of a student exhibiting at-risk behaviors, please attempt to contact the student before initiating the Early Warning system. If you are unable to reach the student, please refer her to the Early Warning system by submitting the confidential Early Warning Referral Form. Although it is called “early warning,” students can be referred at any time during the semester.
