Admissions Launches Multicultural Student Recruitment Program
By Melyssa Allen

Meredith’s Office of Admissions is launching a new program this year that will allow members of the freshman class to promote Meredith by sharing their own experiences.
The new effort, known as the Meredith Hues Program (MHP), is a student volunteer group made up of incoming freshmen who assist the Office of Admissions with the recruitment of new students, with a focus on the multicultural population. The group’s advisor is Admissions Counselor Marina Offner.
“High school students interested in Meredith want to hear from current students who are experiencing what life is like on our campus,” said Offner. “They want to hear about clubs, organizations, multicultural activities and social life. Who better to give them this information than a student who is going through all of these new experiences?”
MHP members will attend selected college fairs with admissions counselors, as well as other special events in the Triangle area. Other opportunities include speaking on student panels on visitation days, and communicating with accepted students via phone, e-mail, mail and Facebook. Members also have the opportunity to return to their high schools to share Meredith recruitment materials and to speak with students about their college experience.
The 2009-10 members of the Meredith Hues Program are the following:
- Sofia Castillo-Cieza;
- Christina Cole;
- Katlynn Hardy;
- Marzia Nawrozi;
- Elizabeth O'Neill;
- Zeenat Razvi;
- April Richard;
- Bani Taunque;
- Janice Trotter; and
- Chloé Williams.
