Each year The Meredith Fund helps to cover costs for a variety of needs on campus such as student projects, financial aid, scholarships, academic programs, faculty and staff development, campus utilities and security.

Answer: The new beach volleyball court is located in the courtyard near the Brewer Residence Hall. This area was a gift from The Parents’ Fund--a component of The Meredith Fund--and the Class of 2009.

As a faculty and staff member, your dedication to Meredith is evident in the fine work you do on campus. Through leadership, instruction, time and giving, you are Lighting the Way for our students.

Recently two staff members have been working closely with The Meredith Fund office to focus particularly on the importance of employee-giving to the College. Marie Sumerel, director of academic & career planning, served two terms on The Meredith Fund Advisory Board during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 academic years. During this time, Sumerel spoke with colleagues about giving to Meredith and held a focus group for alumnae employees.

In July 2009, Jane Mitchell, director of The Meredith Fund, invited Tomecca Sloane, director of commuter life and diversity programs, to join The Meredith Fund Advisory Board. Sloane will serve on the Board for two consecutive terms.

On behalf of The Meredith Fund, thank you to the many faculty and staff who already make monetary gifts to the College. Last year, Meredith employees raised $7,272 through payroll deduction for The Meredith Fund. Because you can make your gift in small increments throughout the year, fall is the ideal time to consider giving. Last year, through payroll deduction, people on campus gave between $2 to $80 a month.
