NUTSHELL NOTES

• Eighty-nine students from North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and South Carolina attended Meredith’s recent Open Day for High School Seniors. Open Day, organized by the Office of Admissions, is designed to encourage students to apply to Meredith.
• Artist Steven Siegel, of Red Hook, NY, created a new public sculpture behind the Gaddy-Hamrick Art Center November 12–14. The sculpture project is part of the Contemporary Art Museum’s 99 Days of Art annual public art program, and will be installed through February 9, 2002. Students from Meredith College, NC State, Broughton High School, Raleigh Charter School and Leesville Middle School assisted Siegel with the creation. The 99 Days of Art project is made possible through support from the City of Raleigh Arts Commission, The News & Observer, Capitol City Lumber and Meredith College. Siegel has also created site sculptures on commission in places such as Great Britain, Denmark, Germany and Russia.
Meredith Performs Theatre was chosen to be included in the 2001 issue of the Alpha Psi Omega/Delta Psi Omega National Theater Honorary Society Playbill, from the more than 2,000 photos that were submitted. Playbill, one of the oldest theater publications in the United States, is distributed to more than 960 colleges and universities. Photos from The American Dream and Stars in Your Eyes were included with a brief description of Meredith College’s chapter of Alpha Psi Omega.
