CALL FOR ENTRIES
FROM CASE PROFESSORS OF THE YEAR PROGRAM
he
Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE)
is currently accepting nominations for the 2002 U.S. Professors
of the Year program, which recognizes outstanding undergraduate
teachers.
According to program organizers, the Professor of the Year
program offers an excellent opportunity to celebrate
and publicize the contributions made by extraordinary undergraduate
educators at campuses throughout the United States.
The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching will
select a winner from each of four categories: baccalaureate
colleagues; community colleges; masters universities
and colleges; and doctoral and research universities.
The four national winners receive a $5,000 cash prize and
an invitation to the awards luncheon at the National Press
Club in Washington, DC in November. Provided there are sufficient
entries, CASE will announce Professors of the Year in all
50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and
the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Nominations may be submitted online at www.case.org/poy. The
processing fee for nominations submitted online is $75; the
fee for nominations submitted on paper is $95. A program brochure,
in PDF format, with the entry guidelines and the entry form

HEALTH FAIR TO BE HELD AT MEREDITH COLLEGE

Faculty
and staff are invited to attend a health fair, Health
Matters at Meredith, on April 10th from 11 a.m.4
p.m. The fair will be held in Carroll Health Center and in
the Wain-wright suites of Belk Dining Hall.
During the fair, participants can receive a free complete
blood analysis and bone density scan. These tests will be
conducted by appointment from 7 a.m.3 p.m. To sign up
for an appointment, visit the Carroll Health Center.
Other
health assessments that will be available during the fair
are: body composition analysis, blood pressure screenings,
hearing screenings, and massage and yoga demonstrations. Health
fair participants will also have the chance to attend information
sessions on nutrition, Weight Watchers®, skin health and
stress relief.

NEW SUMMER HOURS AND STAFF HOLIDAYS
ANNOUNCED

Senior Management Team recently announced the summer hours
for 2002, and upcoming changes to the vacation days for staff.
Meredith College offices will close at noon on Fridays from
May 20 through July 29. This is a change that represents two
additional weeks of early closing than in the past.
In addition to the summer closing, SMT also announced additions
to the staff vacation policy, which will take effect in the
2002-03 fiscal year. The College will close on the Friday
of students spring break (March 14, 2003) and staff
members may now take a vacation day in honor of their birthdays.
This extra vacation day can be taken on any day chosen by
the employee, in consultation with his/her supervisor.
These actions are designed to increase benefits to Meredith
staff, in recognition of their hard work and dedicated service,
said President Maureen Hartford.
The Staff Affairs Committee will also review Merediths
vacation policy to determine its equity.
