Meredith College now has a donated leave policy through which staff employees may donate up to 24 hours per calendar year of their earned and accumulated vacation or sick leave to another staff employee. The recipient must have a severe medical condition requiring his or her prolonged absence from work. Staff employees who wish to donate time to another staff member under this policy should contact Human Resources.

Race for the Cure is scheduled for Saturday, June 8, on the Meredith campus. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m., followed by the Women’s 5K Run/Walk at 8 a.m. and the Open 5K Run/Walk at 9:15 a.m. For more information, contact the Meredith Cares Team Leaders Paula O’Briant (ext. 2367) or Cathy Allen (ext. 8369).

•More than 400 Meredith alumnae attended this year’s Reunion Weekend, held May 17 – 19, 2002. While on campus, alumnae elected new officers, listened to Maureen Hartford’s "State of the College Address," heard a presentation by Associate Professor of Politics Jim Piazza and toured the new science and mathematics building. Alumnae in attendance made nearly $3,000 in contributions to the Meredith Fund, brining the total alumnae restricted giving for the 2001-02 fiscal year to almost $634,000.

•The Meredith College Office of Marketing & Communications recently received two Crown Awards from the Charlotte chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators. The publicity program for Meredith’s Science and Technology initiatives earned a Gold Crown Award. A personality profile on the Make-A-Wish Foundation volunteer efforts of students Amanda Warren and Allison Shivar received a Silver Crown Award.
