In A Nutshell, the official newsletter for all Meredith
College employees, seeks to keep faculty and staff informed
about official actions of the College. Published 10 times per
year by the Office of Marketing and Communications, In A
Nutshell strives to deliver useful information to Meredith
College employees in a timely and accurate manner.

Meredith College now has a donated leave policy
through which staff employees may donate up to 24 hours per
calendar year of their earned and accumulated vacation or
sick leave to another staff employee. The recipient must have
a severe medical condition requiring his or her prolonged
absence from work. Staff employees who wish to donate time
to another staff member under this policy should contact Human
Resources.
Race for the Cure is scheduled for Saturday,
June 8, on the Meredith campus. Registration begins at 6:30
a.m., followed by the Womens 5K Run/Walk at 8 a.m. and
the Open 5K Run/Walk at 9:15 a.m. For more information, contact

More than 400 Meredith alumnae attended this years
Reunion Weekend, held May 17 19, 2002. While
on campus, alumnae elected new officers, listened to Maureen
Hartfords "State of the College Address,"
heard a presentation by Associate Professor of Politics Jim
Piazza and toured the new science and mathematics building.
Alumnae in attendance made nearly $3,000 in contributions
to the Meredith Fund, brining the total alumnae restricted
giving for the 2001-02 fiscal year to almost $634,000.
The Meredith College Office of Marketing & Communications
recently received two Crown Awards from the Charlotte
chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators.
The publicity program for Merediths Science and Technology
initiatives earned a Gold Crown Award. A personality profile
on the Make-A-Wish Foundation volunteer efforts of students
Amanda Warren and Allison Shivar received a
Silver Crown Award.
