What Makes Us Strong
By now, you have most likely seen Meredith’s new brand and brand video, Meredith College | Going Strong. The emphasis on strength — in the development of our students and in the state of the College — captures our history while projecting our future.
Current students, alumnae, and those who have hired our alumnae consistently cite strength as a distinguishing quality that most authentically characterizes Meredith and her graduates. “Courage,” “confidence,” and “clear thinking” are certainly a few of the key descriptors of our current and former students. So, too, are “engaged,” “passionate,” and “well-prepared” for work and life beyond the academy.
Throughout the process of developing this brand, we have been careful to include research and data of our actual students, alumnae, families, employers, and community partners who have graciously provided their perceptions about Meredith students and the Meredith experience. You will be hearing more highlights of that research in publications and events to come, but for now just a couple of statistics stand out:
- 99% of Meredith alumnae agree that there are important benefits to attending a women’s college
- 97% would recommend Meredith to prospective students
- 93% would still attend Meredith if they could start college again
- 97% are satisfied with their academic experience
- 95% say Meredith prepared them to earn an additional degree or certification
- 91% say they were professionally well prepared as a Meredith graduate
These statistics are clear evidence that Meredith does, indeed, graduate strong individuals, ready for whatever life may offer.
What will make Meredith even stronger? Our new strategic plan identifies six key elements for enhancing our strength: educational excellence, optimal enrollment, financial strength, IT/infrastructure enhancements, increased visibility, and enhanced quality of life. The new brand is a prime example of our commitment to enhancing our visibility. Our enrollment is strong. We are strong financially, as indicated by receiving the U.S. Dept. of Education’s top financial rating, and our educational quality remains high with new offerings in the works. Renovations and upgrades on campus — from Belk Dining Hall to Jones/Wainwright to our IT network — are strengthening the College. And our focus on quality of life is making a difference in employee salaries and benefits, as well as general health and well-being for all.
As for me? What makes me strong? You do. Your support, eagerness to help Meredith thrive, pride in your alma mater, and love for this College remind me every single day what a joy it is to be living among “the angels,” doing work that truly matters, and going strong. My gratitude could not be more heartfelt.
How did Meredith make you stronger? I invite you to take a moment to share your strong story.
