Pat Conroy Reading
Thursday, December 12, 7 p.m.
The Friends of the Carlyle Campbell Library and Quail Ridge Books & Music are co-sponsoring a visit from novelist Pat Conroy, who may be the king of Southern writing. Well known for The Prince of Tides, and South of Broad, Conroy returns to Raleigh with a memoir, The Death of Santini: The Story of a Father and His Son. Most Conroy fans know his father as the inspiration for the fierce disciplinarian of The Great Santini. Here Pat Conroy recounts how his father changed in the years following the storm of The Great Santini, and how they reconciled. Tickets required.
