The Colton Review 2012 Wins Award of Excellence from UCDA

Meredith College was recently recognized by the University and College Designers Association (UCDA) with an Award of Excellence for the design of “The Colton Review” 2012.

“The Colton Review” 2012 received one of 163 awards that were chosen from more than 1,100 entries. Other winners in the Student-Published Work category included Clemson University, Community College of Denver, Corcoran Gallery of Art, OCAD University, The Hospital for Sick Children at the University of Toronto, and Western Washington University.

The UCDA Design Competition is hosted by the University & College Designers Association in Smyrna, Tennessee. The organization was founded in 1970 as the nation’s first and only association for professionals involved in the creation of visual communications for educational institutions.

The winning entry, “The Colton Review” 2012, was created by Meredith College’s Book Design: “The Colton Review” graphic design class.

The journal was designed by Christina Hill (art director), Casey Heath (assistant art director), Meredith Amerson, Karen Baltimore, and Emily Melton. The literary staff included Michelle Metivier (editor), Amy Hruby (assistant editor), Julia Dent, Jackie Dering, Sara Norris, Brooke Robinson, and Sally Yacout. The journal is advised by faculty design advisor and creative director, Dana Ezzell Gay, Associate Professor of Graphic Design, and literature advisor, Suzanne Britt, Assistant Professor of English.

“The Colton Review 2012” will also be exhibited in the 2012 UCDA Design Show at the 42nd Annual UCDA Design Conference October 13–16 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
