Students Share Their Favorite Campus Places

As part of our summer series of student advice, Meredith’s Office of Admissions asked a group of rising sophomores, juniors and seniors to share some of their favorite places on campus. Several students said they enjoy Meredith’s dining hall, and others like academic buildings and outdoor spaces.

“On campus, I love the main courtyard. It has such a relaxing feeling to it and is a great place to enjoy outdoors and complete assignments.”— Anna Williams, ’12

“My favorite hangout spot on campus is Belk Dining Hall. I always meet my friends in there for meals between classes and studying – sometimes we’re in there for hours talking.” —Jade Rice, ’13

“I’m becoming very fond of the Science & Math Building. Both the inside and the outside are very soothing places to chill out and read and study. The courtyard looks sort of like a Harry Potter set too, which is pretty cool. And there are several fountains outside that churn water and gurgle.” — Cecelia Blair, ’14

“I prefer hanging out under the umbrella shades [near the library or Cate Center] on warm days. They are perfect reading spots and also cool spots to hang around in between classes. “ — Rodda Akelo Ouma, ’14

“On campus I love hanging out in the dining hall. It’s a great place to catch up with friends and grab a quick bite to eat.” —Angel Jackson, ’13

“My favorite hangout spot on campus is the second floor of the Cate Center by the couches, it’s great for meetings, studying, or just catching up with friends. ” –Rebecca Wright, ’12

“I love riding my bike or taking a walk with friends on the green way, it is absolutely beautiful all year (even winter!) and at the end there is always the museum of art to go look at where there are always interesting exhibitions and even live music from time to time.” —Cristina Rivera, ’14

“The Dining Hall. That’s where I seemed to always make the most conversation with people. I would sit in the Dining Hall just talking and laughing. It’s a good atmosphere to be in with the right people.”—Onisha Walker, ’14

For this series, we’ll post responses to questions about the Meredith experience, academics and campus life at least once per week throughout the summer.
