Music Department’s Evans Performs Concerts in N.C., N.Y.

Adjunct music professor and pianist Margaret Evans was guest artist in concert at Greywalls Recital Hall in January 2016, performing chamber works of Franz Schubert and Igor Stravinsky with colleagues from UNC-Chapel Hill and SUNY-Fredonia. On February 5 she performed the Piano Trio of Joelle Wallach in Meredith College’s Faculty Concert (with fellow Meredith faculty members Jimmy Gilmore, clarinet, and Kristin Jones, viola) as part of the week-long residency of this composer. Also in February, Evans was the featured speaker in a presentation to the Raleigh Piano Teachers Association. On February 20, her student, Gracie Joo, won first place in the RPTA Scholarship Competition, Senior Division.

Evans also served as guest artist at the State University of New York, Fredonia in Nov. 2015, where she performed a chamber music concert with members of the music faculty and presented a master class for music majors. SUNY-Fredonia is one of the largest music programs in the SUNY system, with more than 700 music majors.
