Meredith Welcomes Kenyan Ambassador

Kenyan Ambassador Peter Ogego will visit Meredith College August 25-26.

The ambassador’s schedule will include a meeting with Meredith President Maureen Hartford, a tour of campus and opportunities to learn more about Meredith College.

As part of his visit, the ambassador will be the guest speaker at the College’s weekly chapel service on August 26 at 10 a.m. in Jones Chapel. Ambassador Ogego's presentation is titled “Understanding Kenya and Our World.” The chapel service is open to all students, faculty and staff.

This campus visit is a result of efforts made by Meredith’s Office of Admissions.

Last spring, Admissions staff visited embassies in Washington, D.C., speaking with representatives about Meredith and its programs, with the goal of attracting more international students. Following this visit, Ambassador Ogego and his staff requested an official visit to learn more about Meredith.

In 2007, Meredith developed a partnership with the Zawadi Africa Education Fund, which assists Kenyan women to pursue college education. Three students from Kenya currently attend Meredith through this partnership.
