During the month of February, Mondays mean engineering, as the College holds a series of programs relating to its Engineering Dual Degree Program.
All sessions will be held at 10 a.m. in Science and Mathematics Building Room 261. The series is open to all Meredith students, faculty and staff, as well as prospective students.
Topics will include career issues and international programs that are available to engineers.
The schedule is as follows:
February 2: Career Panel “Backpack to Briefcase: What to Expect as an Engineer.”
February 9: International Opportunities for Students in Engineering, Science and Mathematics
February 16: Engineering Jeopardy
February 23: Career Panel “In Her Shoes: Women in Engineering”
Both career panels will feature local professionals from the engineering field. The panels are scheduled to feature engineers from McKim and Creed, Sepi Engineering, DuPont, IBM, Trinity Consulting, Credit Suisse, Providence Builders and the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
The Engineering Dual Degree Program is an agreement between Meredith College and North Carolina State University that allows students to simultaneously complete the academic requirements of both institutions. Women who successfully complete the admission, transfer and academic requirements of both institutions are awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from Meredith College in either chemistry or mathematics, and a Bachelor of Science degree from NC State in a corresponding engineering specialty.
The Engineering Mondays series is sponsored by the School of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, the Career Center and the Center for Women in Science and Mathematics.
