Are you interested in studying abroad for a semester or for the summer? The deadline for applications is approaching and among the many offerings there are three new programs for students to choose from:
China – 2009:
This program will allow students to experience the wonders of ancient China and the excitement of modern China while at our sister university in Dalian, a modern, northeastern Chinese city with many parks, stores and amusements. A week-long tour of the ancient capital of Xi’an and the modern capital of Beijing is also included. The curriculum and course credit for this program includes History/Politics 942: Culture History and Politics of China, and CHI 100: Introduction to Chinese Language. Costa Rica – 2009: Language and Culture
Spend four weeks studying the second-most spoken language and the culture of its native speakers in the colonial town of San Joaquin de Flores. Students will live with a host family and study at a local institute. The curriculum and course credit for this program includes SPA 205 or 206: Intermediate Spanish classes, SPA 331: Latin American Film, and SPA 300: Life and Study Abroad, and SPA 350 or FL 943: Seminar (Service Learning). Ireland: Outdoor Pursuits, Education & Leadership
This program takes place in Bundoran, a small, coastal surf town known as a living museum of culture in Ireland. Students will learn, explore and live throughout this program with the chance to engage in and lead outdoor activities such as surfing, hiking, kayaking, rock climbing and more. The curriculum and course credit for this program includes PED 940: Outdoor Pursuits, Education, and Leadership (OPEL) and IDS 940: U.S. Perspectives on Irish Culture.
