Meredith Mourns Loss of Former Trustee Ed Vick

C. E. “Ed” Vick, of Raleigh, N.C., a former member of the Meredith College Board of Trustees, passed away on May 13, 2011.
Visitation will be May 16, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 99 North Salisbury St., Raleigh. Funeral service will be held at the church Tuesday, May 17, at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Nashville Cemetery in Nashville, N.C.

Vick served two terms on Meredith’s Board of Trustees, with his most recent term ending on June 30, 2010. He also served as a member of the Campaign for Meredith Steering Cabinet from 2001-07.

Vick was one of the founders of Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., a Raleigh-based engineering, planning and environmental consulting firm. As president from 1972-1992 and as chairman from 1992 to 2000, he directed the continual expansion of Kimley-Horn's services, which today include national and international engineering, planning and environmental services for transportation and land development.

Vick was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Raleigh, where he served as a deacon, and a founding member of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Anne Vick, three daughters, nine grandchildren and one brother.
