Meredith Holds Move-In Day 2010

8 a.m. – Move-In Day has officially started! We welcome all Meredith’s new students.
8:15 a.m. Arriving families are greeted by cheering members of the Orientation Crew. There’s also a balloon arch – a Meredith tradition!
8:30 a.m. Faculty, staff, and student members of the Orientation Crew have been getting ready all week for Move-In Day. Res. Life staff have been preparing all summer.
9 a.m. The Class of 2014 includes approx. 375 students from 18 states. Students also hail from Afghanistan, Canada, China, Congo, El Salvador, Gambia, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, the Netherlands, Peru and Tanzania.
9:15 a.m. Students see familiar faces when they arrive in their residence halls – members of the admissions staff are there to help with check-in.
9:30 a.m. They’ll also see their new RAs, who greet students as they arrive on their halls. Welcome to your new home.
10 a.m. So far, the weather is cooperating – not too hot and there’s even a breeze! You can still hear students cheering for each new arrival!
10:15 a.m. If you’re thirsty, the Alumnae Association is sponsoring a drink stand to help!
10:30 a.m. – Want to experience Move-In Day from afar? Check out a gallery of images here .
11 a.m. Forget something? Before going shopping, check out room accessories available in Meredith’s Daisy Trade ReUse store. It’s open until 1:30 on Move-In Day.
11:30 a.m. Messages in the residence halls welcome students.
11:45 a.m. Most students have finished moving in – or at least everything is in their rooms! Now it’s time for lunch.
Noon – As “moving in” comes to an end, students turn their attention to orientation, which starts at 2 p.m.
1 p.m. Commuters aren’t left out on Move-In Day – check-in for these students is in Johnson Hall Rotunda.
2 p.m. The first opening session starts now! The second is at 3.
2:15 p.m. SGA Pres Anna Beavon Gravely welcomes families w/ memories from her MC Move-In Day.
2:15 p.m. Students who are not in the opening session are taking part in a Meet & Greet w/ Faculty & Student Advisors
4 p.m. While students are in orientation, parents participate in sessions on topics like study abroad, parenting a child at college, & support for out-of-state students.
5 p.m. Time for a BBQ! Students & families enjoy dinner before parents depart at 7:30. Congratulations to all our new students on joining the Meredith College family!
6 p.m. Events conclude tonight with a freshman welcome at 8 and residence hall meetings at 9. Orientation continues until classes start Wednesday.
