Meredith Design Students to Take Part in White Out Lung Cancer Fashion Show

Meredith College student designers will be among those participating in the Second Annual White Out Lung Cancer Fashion Show on Friday, June 7, 2013, from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. at the Burning Coal Theatre in Downtown Raleigh. All net proceeds will benefit the North Carolina Lung Cancer Partnership.

Meredith College alumna Jordan Jaked,’11, is the creator of the White Out Lung Cancer Fashion Show. Jaked, who is now a graduate student at the University of Georgia, holds this cause close to her heart. In early 2011, Jaked lost her mother to lung cancer; that very next year, she and her family partnered with the North Carolina Lung Cancer Partnership for the first White Out Lung Cancer Fashion Show, in honor of her mother.

This annual event showcases the work of local designers and boutiques in a fashion show, and in keeping with the nationally recognized ribbon color for lung cancer, all designs will be white, clear, silver, or pearl. In addition to the designs displayed by local boutiques (such as Clothes Hound, Cousin Couture and Maggie’s Bridal), attendees will also see designs from local students at N.C. State and Meredith College. In addition to the fashion show, the event will include a reception and a silent auction. Tickets are available at for $25, and can also be purchased at Burning Coal Theatre the day of the event.
