DanceWorks, the Meredith College Dance Program's most extensive annual performance, will be held April 26-28, 2013, in Jones Auditorium. DanceWorks will feature more than 40 student performers, 21 student choreographers, and five faculty and guest artist works across the weekend.
The performance schedule is as follows:
Emerging Artists Concert: April 26 at 8 p.m. and April 27 at 3 p.m.
Mainstage Artists Concert: April 27 at 8 p.m. and April 28 at 3 p.m.
Gala: April 28 at 8 p.m.
The Emerging Artists Concert highlights first-time student choreographers and a work by faculty member Carol Finley performed by freshmen and transfer students.
The Mainstage Artist Concert will include continuing student choreographers, work by faculty members Professor of Dance Carol Finley and Instructor of Dance Eleanor Smith, and a collaboration between Professor of Dance Alyson Colwell-Waber and local choreographer Michelle Pearson. The work by Colwell-Waber and Pearson is a result of a community partnership between Meredith College Dance and Centennial Middle School in Raleigh.
The Gala performance comprises dances from both programs selected by a panel of Meredith Alumnae and Professor of Dance Sherry Shapiro's recent work "Hair Peace."
