Meredith College to Salute Women in Law Enforcement

Meredith College will hold A Salute to Women in Law Enforcement on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at 4 p.m. in the rotunda of Johnson Hall. The event is open to Meredith students, employees, alumnae and the local community.

Hosted by Meredith’s criminology program, A Salute to Women in Law Enforcement will recognize and thank women who work in all areas of law enforcement, including policing, prosecution and corrections.

Representatives from all branches of law enforcement have been invited to attend. This event will also celebrate Cassandra Deck-Brown’s recent appointment as chief of the Raleigh Police Department.

As one of the largest women’s colleges in the U.S., Meredith College has a long history of supporting women in non-traditional fields.

In 2011, in keeping with this history, Meredith College became one of the few women’s colleges to offer a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminology.
